UTTAR PRADESH: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) detected nine cases of cheating and 14 instances of dummy candidates on the first day of the Class 10 and 12 board exams on February 24, 2025.
Over 4.8 million students appeared for the exams, which included subjects like Hindi, military science, and healthcare. The exams took place in two shifts, with more than 2.4 million students in both shifts. Over 5.1 million students had registered for the exams.
The 14 dummy candidates were spread across multiple districts. Farrukhabad had six cases, while Ghazipur recorded four. Officials also found one dummy candidate each in the Kannauj, Jaunpur, Firozabad, and Pratapgarh districts.
Officials reported six cases of cheating in the Farrukhabad district during the Class 10 Hindi exam. Another case was found in the Pratapgarh district during the same exam period.
During the Class 12 Hindi exam, authorities detected one cheating case each in the Bijnor and Mirzapur districts.
Nine Fake Invigilators Caught in Prayagraj
Authorities uncovered a major malpractice at Bholanath Ram Sukh Patel Inter College in Chakshyam Kiraon, Phulpur, Prayagraj, during the first shift of the UP Board Exam 2025. Nine individuals were caught posing as invigilators while students were appearing for the High School science and Intermediate Accountancy exams.
PN Singh, the District Inspector of Schools (DIoS) in Prayagraj, stated that a routine inspection by the static magistrate led to the discovery of the impostors. Officials immediately filed a case at Mauaima Police Station against eight individuals involved in the impersonation.
Exam Rule Violation in Pratappur
During an inspection at Babu Ram Adhar Kedar Nath Pal Inter College in Atarsuiya, Pratappur, authorities found center superintendent Bhola Nath Yadav failing to follow examination guidelines.
To maintain the integrity of the exam process, officials immediately replaced him and assigned another teacher to oversee the examinations properly.
UPMSP’s Action Against Exam Malpractices
The UPMSP is enforcing the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024 to curb cheating in board exams. According to the Act, students caught cheating will not face criminal charges, but officials will withhold their answer sheets and determine results based on board regulations.
Board secretary Bhagwati Singh directed the education administration to take strict action against students found using unfair means. He also emphasized that authorities must take decisive action under Section 8 of the Act against any individuals other than the examinees who are involved in malpractice.
