CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026: Important Update for Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued a separate circular dated June 30, 2026, addressed to the Principals of all CBSE-affiliated schools, directing them to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class XII Supplementary Examination 2026 through the Pariksha Sangam portal on cbse.gov.in. The LOC submission window has opened today and will remain active till July 8, 2026, till 11:59 PM.

    Don't Miss Entrance Updates 2026

This circular is separate from the one issued for private candidates and deals specifically with regular students studying in CBSE-affiliated schools whose Class XII result has been declared as Compartment for session 2025-26.

    What Schools Must Do

Schools are required to log in to the Pariksha Sangam portal using their Affiliation Number as the user ID and their existing password to submit the LOC for eligible students.

One of the most critical instructions in the circular is that schools must submit the LOC for all students placed in the Compartment category, even if they are unable to get in touch with the student. CBSE has made it explicitly clear that if a student’s name is not submitted through the online process, that student will lose the opportunity to appear in the Supplementary Examinations 2026 entirely. It is the school’s responsibility to ensure timely submission within the schedule.

Schools must also inform students placed in Compartment about their candidature for the supplementary examinations and should reach out to them proactively.

    Who Can Appear: Regular Students

The eligibility criteria for regular students under this circular is as follows:

Compartment in one subject: Regular students who appeared in Board Examinations 2026 through CBSE-affiliated schools and were declared Compartment are eligible to appear in the one subject in which they were placed in Compartment.

Compartment in two subjects: Regular students who appeared with 6 subjects and were placed in Compartment in two subjects can appear in any one of those two Compartment subjects.

Passed but failed one subject: Regular students who appeared in 6 subjects in Board Examinations 2026, were declared Pass, but could not clear one subject, can appear in that failed subject under the Improvement of Performance category, only in subjects where examinations will be conducted.

Passed and wish to improve: Regular students who appeared in Board Examinations 2026 and were declared Pass can also appear in any one subject under the Improvement of Performance category, only in subjects whose examinations will be conducted.

Important: 3rd Chance Students Are Private Candidates

Students who appeared in Class XII for the first time in 2025, were declared Compartment, appeared again in the 2025 Compartment Exam (1st chance), could not pass, and appeared again with the 2026 Board Examinations (2nd chance) and still could not clear these students are now on their 3rd and final chance. However, they cannot appear as regular students. They must apply as private candidates directly through cbse.gov.in. Schools may guide such students accordingly but cannot include them in the school’s LOC.

Schools may take a print of the LOC as a checklist before payment. Once the fee is paid, the final LOC will be printed and no correction will be possible thereafter in either online or offline mode.

Key Points Schools Must Not Miss

CBSE has emphasized that Improvement of Performance can only be done in one subject that the student has already appeared for in the Main examination. The LOC must be filled as per the current result status of each candidate. Consolidated mark sheets will be issued only to those students who were declared Compartment in Board Examinations 2026 and are subsequently declared Pass in Supplementary Examinations 2026.

The Supplementary Examinations 2026 will be conducted based on the syllabus prescribed for Board Examinations for session 2025-26, available on the CBSE website.
