The Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) authority has released the tentative vacancy list for Special Round 2 of B.Tech admissions 2026. The list, spread across more than 200 participating colleges and universities in Uttar Pradesh, gives candidates who are still in the counselling process a clear picture of branch-wise seat availability ahead of the special round.
UPTAC has clarified that this vacancy list is based on the allotments made in Special Round 1, and an updated vacancy list, factoring in actual reporting data from Special Round 1, will be released separately.
What the Vacancy List Shows
The tentative list covers close to 1,100 college-branch combinations and reflects roughly 48,500 vacant seats overall across all participating institutes, spanning Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and several niche branches such as Textile Technology, Carpet Technology, and Handloom Technology.
Computer Science-family branches (CSE, IT, AI & ML, Data Science, and Cyber Security combined) account for a little over half of the total vacant seats, underlining continued high sanctioned intake in these disciplines across private engineering colleges in the state.
Some of the largest single branch-wise vacancies on the list include:
- KCC Institute of Technology & Management, Gautam Buddh Nagar -Computer Science and Engineering (Shift I): 1,021 seats
- Accurate Institute of Management & Technology, Gautam Buddh Nagar – CSE (AI & ML) (Shift I): 548 seats
- I.T.S. Engineering College, Gautam Buddh Nagar – CSE (Shift I): 390 seats
- Accurate Institute of Management & Technology, Gautam Buddh Nagar – CSE (Shift I): 384 seats
- Inderprastha Engineering College, Ghaziabad – CSE (Shift I): 336 seats
Government-funded institutes such as the Rajkiya Engineering Colleges (Azamgarh, Banda, Bijnor, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Sonebhadra), the Bharat Ratna-named engineering colleges at Pratapgarh and Basti, and university-affiliated colleges like Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University Agra and Ch. Charan Singh University Campus (SCRIET) Meerut also feature on the list, largely with smaller vacancy counts in traditional branches like Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering.

Why This Matters for Candidates
For candidates who did not get their preferred branch or college in Special Round 1, this tentative list is a useful early indicator of where seats are likely to open up in Special Round 2. However, since UPTAC has explicitly flagged that an updated list will follow Special Round 1 reporting, candidates are advised not to finalize their choices solely on the basis of this tentative data.
