NEET PG 2024 Transparency Case: Supreme Court Hearing Today

The Supreme Court will hear the NEET PG 2024 transparency petition today, addressing concerns over exam irregularities and result transparency.

The Supreme Court is expected to take up the long-pending petition concerning transparency in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) today, April 22, 2025. The hearing, originally scheduled for April 8, did not proceed due to an unforeseen event. Initially listed in September 2024, the case has faced over eight postponements, primarily due to the repeated absence of government and National Board of Examinations (NBE) officials.

NEET PG 2024: Students Demand Greater Transparency

Nineteen NEET PG aspirants filed the petition, raising serious concerns about the abrupt changes made to the exam schedule just days before the test. The petitioners questioned the transparency of the result declaration process and demanded that the NBE disclose the candidates’ question papers, answer keys, and response sheets.

Responding to the petitioners’ concerns, the Supreme Court bench, comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra, issued notices to the NBE and the Union Government. The bench instructed them to submit their responses. However, the hearing on September 30 was again deferred as no representative appeared on behalf of the Central Government.

Students Oppose NEET PG in Multiple Shifts

In their petition, the students opposed the decision to conduct NEET PG 2024 in two separate shifts. They argued that the last-minute introduction of a normalisation process, just three days before the exam, created undue stress and adversely affected their performance. The petitioners also expressed concerns about fairness and consistency in the assessment process.

Currently, NEET PG aspirants from across the country are urging authorities to conduct the NEET PG 2025 examination in a single shift. They believe that administering the exam in multiple shifts introduces inconsistencies in the difficulty level and the distribution of questions across subjects, potentially affecting overall fairness.

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear the matter today, thousands of students await clarity and accountability in the NEET PG examination process.
