IPU B.Tech Seat Matrix 2026: CSE Seats Full, Vacancies Remain

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has released its detailed seat matrix list for B.Tech admissions, covering seat allotment status, remaining vacancies, and the last rank allotted for each institute-program-category combination. The list, generated through the university’s Counsellor 2.0 platform and printed on August 31, 2026, spans 21 affiliated colleges and university schools of GGSIPU, offering a clear picture of where seats have filled up and where vacancies still exist heading into further counselling rounds.

CSE and Allied Branches Fill Up Fastest

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), along with its specialised variants – CSE-AI, CSE-AIML, CSE-Data Science, and Information Technology – continue to be the most sought-after programs in GGSIPU’s counselling. Colleges such as Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology (BPIT), Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering (BVCOE), Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT), Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), and the university’s own USICT show their CSE and IT seats fully filled, with no vacancies left in Round-wise allotment so far.

Most Competitive CSE Seats (Lowest Last Rank Allotted)

A lower last-rank figure indicates tougher competition – MAIT’s CSE seats were the toughest to secure this round, filling up with candidates ranked as good as 80,207, followed by MSIT’s main and second-shift CSE programs.

Where Seats Are Still Vacant

Not every program has filled up. Several colleges – particularly those offering newer or less conventional branches, and some 2nd-shift/private institutes – still show sizeable vacancies:

• JIMS Engineering Management Technical Campus, Greater Noida – CSE: 378 seats sanctioned, 330 still remaining, the single largest vacancy pool in the matrix.
• Delhi Technical Campus, Greater Noida (DTCGN) – CSE: 324 seats, 123 remaining.
• Echelon Institute of Technology – CSE: 240 seats, 120 remaining; several of its newer branches (Robotics & AI, Mechatronics, CSE-Cyber Security, CSE-IoT & Blockchain) also show more vacant seats than filled ones.
• HMR Institute of Technology & Management (HMRITM) – CSE: 162 seats, 115 remaining; its Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering branches remain completely vacant (27 seats each).
• Greater Noida Institute of Technology (GNIT) – CSE: 135 seats, 81 remaining.
• Delhi Institute of Sciences and Technology (DIST) – CSE: 97 seats, 85 remaining.
• Shri Balwant Institute of Technology (SBIT) – its Mechanical Engineering (30 seats) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (23 seats) branches show zero seats filled so far.

What This Means for Aspirants

For candidates still in the counselling process, the seat matrix is a useful indicator of demand and difficulty:

• If aiming for CSE/IT at a top-tier affiliated college, expect little to no room left in colleges like MAIT, MSIT, BVCOE, BPIT, GTBIT, and USICT – later rounds are unlikely to open fresh seats in these unless current allottees withdraw.
• Newer/interdisciplinary branches – such as Robotics & AI, Mechatronics, CSE-Cyber Security, Industrial IoT, and Chemical/Energy programs at the University Schools – still have open seats and may offer a realistic entry point for candidates with comparatively higher (weaker) ranks.
• 2nd-shift programs, largely offered at ADGIPS, MAIT, MSIT, GTBIT, and HMRITM, generally carry lower demand and more vacancies than their regular-shift counterparts at the same college.
• Total vacancy of over 2,000 seats (about 19% of listed capacity) across the university suggests further counselling rounds will bring meaningful movement, especially in mid-tier private colleges and specialised branches.
