CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026: Private Candidates Can Apply Online

CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Exam 2026: Private Candidates Can Apply Online, Exam on July 28

    Don't Miss Entrance Updates 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education has opened the online application window for the Class XII Supplementary Examination 2026 for private candidates starting , June 30, 2026. The circular has been issued by CBSE.

Private candidates placed in the Compartment category following the declaration of Class XII Board results must submit their examination forms through the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in, before the deadline closes on July 8, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

    Who Can Apply

This circular is only for private candidates. But who exactly counts as a private candidate here? Let’s break it down simply.

There are four types of students who can apply:

Students who gave Class 12 exams this year (2026) as private candidates and got a Compartment result in one or two subjects can apply to clear that subject through this supplementary exam.

Students who gave Class 12 exams this year (2026) as private candidates, passed overall but could not clear one subject, can apply to improve that one subject.

Students who first gave Class 12 Board exams in 2025, got Compartment, appeared again in the Compartment exam in 2025, still got Compartment, and then appeared again with the 2026 Board exams and got Compartment once more this supplementary exam is their 3rd and absolute last chance. After this, no more chances will be given. These students must apply as private candidates, not regular students.

    The Simple Rule

Think of it this way if your Class 12 result currently shows Compartment in any subject, whether you gave the exam this year or last year, you need to apply for this supplementary exam. But you apply as a private candidate, not through your school. Your school will not submit the form on your behalf. You have to go to cbse.gov.in and fill the form yourself.

Missing this window means missing the chance to clear that subject entirely, since CBSE will not accept any application after July 8, 2026 under any circumstances.
