Time is running out for NEET UG 2026 candidates still waiting on their examination fee refund. The National Testing Agency has confirmed that the portal for confirming or correcting bank account details will shut down tomorrow, July 7, 2026, at 11:50 PM, and this deadline will not be pushed further.
Students who haven’t yet verified their banking information are being strongly advised to log in and complete the process before the window disappears for good.
Background: Why NEET Candidates Are Owed a Refund
This entire refund exercise traces back to the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 exam, which was originally set for May 3, 2026. After the cancellation, NTA arranged a re-test on June 21, 2026, in which nearly 20 lakh students appeared, and promised to return the examination fee to everyone who had registered for the scrapped attempt.
To make sure refunds land in the correct accounts, the agency set up an online facility where candidates could enter fresh bank details or confirm existing ones.
A Deadline That Kept Moving Until Now
This isn’t the first time the refund deadline has shifted. The portal originally opened on May 22, 2026, with a closing date of May 27. That date was later extended to June 22, then the window reopened briefly from June 25 to June 30, before being pushed one final time to July 7, 2026.
NTA has stated firmly this time that there will be no more extensions, and any submission attempted after 11:50 PM on July 7 will simply not be accepted.
Refunds Already Rolling Out for Some Students
The agency’s recent notice reveals that payments are already being disbursed to candidates who have completed their bank verification. That said, only about 8,29,510 candidates have finished this step so far, prompting NTA to push remaining applicants to hurry before time runs out.
Steps to Submit Your Bank Details
Candidates who still need to complete the process can follow this simple sequence:
- Go to the official NEET portal — neet.nta.nic.in
- Sign in with your NEET UG 2026 application number and password
- Locate and click the refund option on your dashboard
- Fill in your bank account number, IFSC code, and other required fields
- Attach a scanned cancelled cheque if you have one
- Double-check every entry before hitting submit
- Save or print the confirmation page once done
Key Things Every Candidate Should Know
| Aspect | What NTA says |
| Whose account can be used | Only the candidate’s own account, a parent’s account, or a joint account bearing the candidate’s name is acceptable |
| Who’s responsible for errors | NTA has made clear that once submitted, refunds go exactly where the entered details point mistakes are the candidate’s responsibility |
| Paid via cyber café or third party | Refund is usually sent back to the original payment source, so coordinate with that person if applicable |
| Watch out for fraud | NTA never asks for OTPs or passwords over calls or messages treat such requests as scam attempts |
| Expected credit time | Refunds are typically processed within roughly 7 working days after confirmation |
Timeline of the NEET UG 2026 Refund Process
| Stage | Date |
| Portal opened | May 22, 2026 |
| Initial deadline | May 27, 2026 |
| First extension | June 22, 2026 |

What If You Don’t Make It in Time?
According to NTA’s notification, there will be absolutely no exceptions once the clock strikes 11:50 PM tomorrow. Candidates who skip this step risk a delayed refund, or worse, their money could be sent to whatever bank details are already on record which may not necessarily be theirs.
Given the possibility of heavy last-minute rush on the site, students are being encouraged not to wait until the closing hours to log in.
Need Help?
Anyone running into technical trouble while updating details can contact NTA’s helpline at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or write in via the official support email listed on the NEET website.
With barely a day left, candidates who haven’t confirmed their bank account information should consider this their final call to act before the NEET UG 2026 refund portal closes for good.
