    Why Is This a Re-Examination?

NEET UG is India’s single national entrance test for MBBS, BDS, and allied medical programmes. This re-exam is being held for candidates who were impacted by irregularities in an earlier attempt. NTA has confirmed all logistical arrangements are firmly in place to ensure a smooth and fair exam on 21 June.

    Security Setup: What’s Been Arranged

NTA has deployed a multi-layered security framework for this exam likely one of the most stringent in recent years for any national-level test.

    Security MeasureDetails
City Coordinators674 officials overseeing city-level operations
Independent Observers6,669 deployed across exam centres
Question Paper TransportGPS-tracked vehicles with police escort
SurveillanceCCTV at all centres, linked to central control rooms
Identity VerificationAadhaar-based biometric authentication at entry
Entry ChecksHigh-sensitivity metal detectors at every centre

Additionally, NTA is actively monitoring social media for misinformation related to question paper leaks. Complaints have already been filed with cyber-crime agencies including I4C, MHA, and CBI, and action is being taken against those spreading false content.

Biometric Verification: Don’t Panic If It Fails

A common concern among students is what if the fingerprint scanner doesn’t work?

NTA’s position is clear: a failed biometric reading will not bar you from the exam. If verification fails due to a technical glitch, UIDAI connectivity issues, or a physical condition affecting your fingerprints, you will be asked to sign a written undertaking at the centre. Once signed, you can proceed to the exam hall without any hindrance. Manual identity verification through your valid ID documents will follow.

    • Power backup (generators included) at every venue
    • Adequate lighting and fan availability in exam halls
    • A wall clock in every room so candidates can self-monitor time
    • Drinking water, functional washrooms, and on-site medical assistance
    • Diabetic candidates may carry sugar tablets and one permitted fruit (banana, apple, or orange), along with a transparent water bottle

What to Carry and What to Leave at Home

    Carry these:

    • Printed Admit Card
    • One original valid photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, etc.)
    • Two recent passport-size photographs
    • Transparent water bottle
    • Sugar tablets or permitted fruits (diabetic candidates only)

    Do Not bring:

    • Mobile phones or smartwatches

    Exam Day Instructions

    • Verify your centre address directly from your Admit Card do not rely solely on Google Maps or third-party apps, as location pins may be inaccurate for some centres.
    • Arrive before 1:30 PM. Gates close at 1:30 PM and there are absolutely no exceptions.
