According to the police, two suicides were reported in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district on March 30. One of the victims was a nursing officer at AIIMS Jodhpur, and the other was a NEET student living in a hostel.
The first case involved the nursing officer, who was staying on rent at a place in the city. On the day of the incident, she was on a video call with her boyfriend when she said, “I am dying,” and abruptly ended the call. The panicked boyfriend immediately contacted her friends and family, who rushed to her room. They found her dead, and despite efforts to revive her with CPR, she was declared dead at AIIMS. Her family, including her father from Ahmedabad, were informed, and the police registered a case.
The woman had been married for four years, but had been living separately from her husband for some time, the police said. She had joined AIIMS two years ago, but had distanced herself from her in-laws and husband before the incident.
The second suicide is related to a female NEET aspirant from Jalore, Rajasthan, who was staying at Gehlot PG Hostel in Ratanada police station area. Ratanada SHO Dinesh Lakhawat said that the woman had been preparing for the NEET exam for several years.
She committed suicide on March 30, and no suicide note was found. Her family has filed a complaint against the hostel operator and others, claiming their possible involvement in the incident and alleging foul play rather than suicide. Officials are investigating to gather more information about the circumstances of both suicides.
