NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has decided to discontinue the four-year BA, BSc-BEd (Integrated) course from the academic year 2025-26. In compliance with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines, the state will replace these programs with the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a specialized teacher training initiative.
New Admission Process for ITEP
Candidates seeking admission to ITEP must now appear for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). As a result, the state-level entrance exam for BA, BSc-BEd has been eliminated.
Refund Policy for Registered Candidates
The Maharashtra CET Cell has assured that all registered candidates for MAH BA, BSc-BEd CET will receive a refund of their application fees. The authorities will credit the refunded amount to the same bank account used during registration.
NCTE to Reintroduce One-Year BEd, MEd Programs
The NCTE has proposed reintroducing one-year BEd and MEd programs. If approved, institutions will have the option to convert their existing two-year full-time BEd and MEd courses. The regulatory body has already released draft regulations and invited public feedback. The one-year BEd program will include two semesters, integrating school internships, field-based experiences, practice teaching, and academic coursework.
NCET 2025 Registration Details
The NCET 2025 registration process began on February 20, with a deadline of March 16. Candidates can complete the registration process on the official website: exams.nta.ac.in/NCET. The NTA will allow candidates to make corrections to their applications from March 18 to 19. The exam city slip will be available in the first week of April 2025, and the admit cards will be issued three days before the exam.
NCET 2025 Exam Schedule
The NCET 2025 exam is scheduled for April 29 and will be conducted online in two shifts across 178 cities. Candidates will face 181 questions, of which they must attempt 160. The test will be available in 13 languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The scoring system awards 4 marks for each correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response.
