For many rural aspirants, limited access, high costs, and lack of awareness have been major hurdles. But, several government schemes and initiatives are now bridging this gap, bringing medical dreams closer to reality for rural and economically weaker students.
Free Coaching Programs Making Quality Education Accessible
Initiatives like the Super 100, NEET Super 50, and PM YASASVI scheme are offering free residential coaching to meritorious but underprivileged students. These programs, run by various state governments and NGOs in collaboration with the central government, provide comprehensive NEET coaching, accommodation, and study material — all free of cost.
In states like Bihar, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, government-run coaching centers are preparing hundreds of rural students every year, many of whom have gone on to secure seats in top medical colleges.
The Social Welfare and Minority Welfare Departments in states like Telangana and Karnataka have also launched dedicated NEET coaching centers for SC/ST and minority students.
“Without this support, I couldn’t even imagine preparing for NEET,” says Pooja Kumari, a farmer’s daughter from Bihar and a NEET 2025 aspirant under the state-funded free coaching scheme.
PM CARES for Children: A Hope for Orphaned Aspirants
The PM CARES for Children Scheme launched in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has extended special support to children who lost both parents. Apart from financial assistance and health insurance, the scheme also provides free NEET coaching, career counseling, and guidance for medical entrances. For many such aspirants, it’s not just a scheme — it’s a second chance.
State-Level Education Subsidies and Scholarships
Several states are offering direct financial aid, fee reimbursement, and merit-based scholarships to students pursuing NEET coaching or planning to enroll in private medical colleges.
- Tamil Nadu provides ₹1,00,000 education grant for NEET-qualified students from SC/ST backgrounds.
- West Bengal’s ‘Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship’ supports students scoring 60%+ in science stream.

Digital Tools and Open Resources by NTA & MoE
The Ministry of Education (MoE) has made digital content widely accessible through platforms like Diksha App, Swayam, and PM e-Vidya, offering free NEET preparation modules. The National Test Abhyas App, launched by NTA, allows students to take mock tests at home in both English and Hindi.
