DU Updates BA (Hons) English Eligibility Criteria: Introduces 2 CUET Subject Combinations

NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi has revised the program-specific eligibility criteria for admission to BA (Hons) English through the CUET UG 2025 score. According to the DU admission brochure 2025, students must appear for the English paper in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2025) along with any three domain-specific subjects from ‘List B.’

    How to Get Admission in DU for English (Hons)?

    Candidates aspiring to pursue BA (Hons) English at Delhi University must appear in the English paper in CUET, along with any three subjects from List B or one language from List A and any two subjects from List B. Earlier, the subject combination for BA (Hons) English was “English from List A + any two subjects from List B1 + any one subject from either List B1 or List B2.”

    “For determining Program Specific Eligibility and mapping the CUET subject(s) with Class XII subject(s), the university may consider the mark sheets of more than one recognized board, provided the candidate has passed those subjects in Class XII,” the DU brochure states.

    DU Admissions 2025: Domain-Specific Subjects

    The university has categorized the subjects into two lists – List A and List B. List A includes 14 language subjects, while List B covers 22 domain-specific subjects. Candidates must appear in one language paper studied in Class 12 and any three subjects from List B.

    List A: 14 Language Subjects

    • Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Urdu.

    List B: 22 Domain-Specific Subjects

    Subject Combinations for BA English

    To secure admission to BA (Hons) English at DU, candidates can opt for any of the following subject combinations:

    1. Combination 1: English from List A + Any three subjects from List B
    2. Combination 2: English and one language from List A + Any two subjects from List B

    The merit will be based on the best CUET score obtained from any of the above combinations.
