Following a Cabinet meeting, Sarma stated that most NEET centres are in private institutions, prompting the government to request conducting exams only in government schools. The state also seeks direct supervision of NEET by district commissioners and superintendents of police.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved revoking the Char area quota in MBBS/BDS from 2025-26 and mandated national security clearance for new healthcare institutions. A bill will be introduced to regulate private coaching institutes.

The government allocated land for two mega industrial parks and approved Accredited Driver Training Centres in all 126 constituencies. Efforts are also underway to secure UNESCO World Heritage status for Majuli and Sivasagar.

Lt Gen (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita will receive the ‘Assam Baibhav award, while Assam Saurav and Assam Gaurav awards will be presented to distinguished individuals and organizations on March 30.
