The Kerala Board of Public Examinations has officially revised the grace marks policy for the upcoming Kerala SSLC and DHSE Result 2025, which will provide additional academic support to students involved in extracurricular activities. This update will directly benefit SSLC Plus Two students who actively participate in sports, arts, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and science fairs.
Kerala Board Increases Grace Marks for State and National-Level Participants
Under the new order from the General Education Department, the Kerala Board has:
- Increased grace marks from 10 to 15 for students who participate at the state level in sports and arts.
- Raised national-level grace marks from 15 to 20, rewarding students who represent Kerala in competitive events beyond the state.
This move aims to recognize and reward the efforts of students who balance academics with outstanding co-curricular performance.
Enhanced Support for NCC, Scouts & Guides, and Science Fair Students
The revised Kerala grace marks policy 2025 also:
- Doubles grace marks for NCC and Scouts & Guides cadets from 5 to 10.
- Grants 10 marks (up from 5) to students excelling in science, mathematics, or IT fairs.
These changes reflect Kerala’s push to promote well-rounded student development through active engagement beyond classroom academics.
Grace Marks for Passing Only, Not for Grade Improvement
The Kerala Board clarified that the grace marks will only help students achieve passing scores, not boost their grades. For instance, if a student fails a subject, the grace marks can raise their score to the pass mark. However, the board will not apply these marks to upgrade grades from a B to an A.
30 Grace Marks Cap Still Applies in Kerala Board Exams 2025
The policy update retains the existing maximum limit of 30 grace marks per student across all categories. The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan will oversee implementation to ensure fair and transparent application across state-syllabus schools.
Kerala Promotes Holistic Education with Policy Update
Officials from the education department stated that the revised policy supports students’ overall growth and recognizes their efforts in extracurricular domains. “We want to encourage students who go beyond academics and contribute meaningfully in various fields,” said a department spokesperson.
The revised Kerala Board grace marks policy 2025 is expected to relieve pressure on thousands of students while promoting a more inclusive, student-friendly education system in the state.
