Ranchi, Jharkhand: The Jharkhand government proposed establishing two new universities, six medical colleges, and five law colleges to expand education and healthcare. Indian Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore announced the initiative while presenting the state budget in the assembly on Monday 3rd March 2025.
Focus points on Skill Development and Vocational Education
The state government plans to establish a skill university and a fintech university to promote vocational education in Jharkhand state. Along with that mass communication and business schools have been also planned in Ranchi, Palamu, Hazaribag, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, and Deoghar.
Strengthening Legal Education and Medical Infrastructure
The government plans to set up law colleges in Hazaribag, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Dumka, and Palamu to enhance legal education. Administrative approval has been granted in the healthcare department for a new medical college and hospital in Ranchi. In Jamshedpur, Khunti, Dhanbad, Giridih, Deoghar, and Jamtara the government has to open medical colleges under the public-private partnership model.
Budget Allocations Divided
- Health Department: ₹7,470.50 crore
- Higher and Technical Education: ₹2,409.20 crore
- Primary and Secondary Education: ₹15,198.35 crore
MSME and Sports Development Initiatives
The government plans to start an MSME directorate or cell to support micro, small, and medium enterprises(MSME). And 59 new day-boarding sports training centres have been planned to boost youth participation in sports. It will be very helpful for the youth.
These initiatives have some aim to work on education, healthcare, and employment opportunities in Jharkhand.
