The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad will launch two new online courses from the 2025-26 academic year: an MTech in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science and an MBA course. These courses are designed to offer flexibility to students and working professionals as they will be able to study from anywhere except for some practical work to be done during the summer holidays.
Pankaj Mishra, public relations officer of the institute, confirmed that the Senate has approved both the programmes, and the proposals are awaiting final approval from the Board of Governors (BOG). “Once we get approval from the BOG, we will formally launch these courses for the next session,” Mishra said.
MTech in AI and Data Science: Preparing Future Innovators
The MTech course in AI and Data Science will provide an integrated curriculum including machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics. Students will study basic and advanced concepts along with practical experience in real-world applications of AI and data science. The course is expected to prepare graduates to solve various problems in the field.
To further improve learning, IIIT Allahabad will partner with edtech firms for course enrollment. This collaboration will enable students to match their abilities with the current industry demands, thereby enhancing career progression prospects.
Online MBA: A Modern Approach to Business Education
The online MBA course will blend management, technology and business studies, providing students with practical knowledge through project and assignment work. The program suits the busy lifestyle of working professionals, giving them a great path to career development and skill acquisition.
Revival of Dual Degree Programs for Undergraduate Students
In addition to the online programs, IIIT Allahabad will relaunch its dual-degree programs in the 2025-26 academic session. These programmes will allow undergraduate students to earn integrated BTech-MTech and BTech-MBA degrees, completing both in five years through a single admission process.
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the double degree courses will enable students to have easy entry and exit, faster skill development and promote research and innovation in their areas of specialisation.
