Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched Project Alankar to modernise non-government aided secondary Sanskrit schools. The initiative aims to build new classrooms, renovate existing facilities and introduce modern amenities like science laboratories and smart classrooms. The government aims to improve the educational environment and preserve India’s rich Sanskrit heritage through this initiative.
Under this project, the government will modernise 11 Sanskrit schools in seven districts by building classrooms, boundary walls, sanitation facilities and modern infrastructure. These initiatives will improve the learning environment for students, as well as promote Sanskrit education and protect India’s ancient knowledge traditions.
The Yogi government has proposed Rs 100 crore for this in the financial year 2024-25. Officials have already issued a government order for the early start of the project. Schools with at least 100 students will be given new classrooms, boundary walls and better facilities to improve the school environment.
The government will construct new classrooms, boundary walls and toilet facilities in Durgi Ji Sanskrit Higher Secondary School located at Ahilyapur in Barhaj, Deoria. Two new classrooms will be constructed in Shri Raghuvar Sanskrit Higher Secondary School located at Swargdwar in Ayodhya and five classrooms will be renovated and an additional classroom will be constructed in Shri Balwant Adarsh Sanskrit Higher Secondary School located at Dugwa in Deoghar.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gurukul Uchchatar Madhyamik Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Secunderabad, Mandi Shyam Nagar will be provided six new classrooms and stairs. In Azamgarh, Shri Dharma Sanskrit Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Jindopur will be provided a new classroom. These schools will also be reconstructed, extended and electrified under the scheme.
Five Sanskrit schools in Varanasi will also be modernised by the government: Shri Bhagwan Vishnu Swami Satua Baba Sanskrit Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Shri Rudra Bhadratma Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Shri Saraswati Sanskrit Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Shri Adarsh Shankar Sanskrit Vidyalaya and Shri Annapurna Rishikul Brahmacharya Ashram Sanskrit Madhyamik Vidyalaya. These include renovation of classrooms, construction of principal rooms, office rooms, verandahs, stairs and electrification.
In Shahjahanpur, two new classrooms and a toilet block will be constructed by the government at Savitri Devi Dharmik Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya located in Tilhar. These upgrades will provide a more conducive environment for learning and help sustain Sanskrit education across the state.
Under Project Alankar, we are developing 11 non-government aided Sanskrit schools in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from new and renovated classrooms, the schools will be provided with state-of-the-art facilities like modern laboratories and advanced infrastructure. In the process, Sanskrit studies will be integrated with new-age technology, giving more possibilities to the students,” Sarkar said.
