Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh (AKTU) has addressed a common concern among Lateral Entry aspirants this counselling season: what happens if your diploma final year result hasn’t come out yet? Through a notice dated July 20, 2026 (Ref. No. AKTU/UPTAC-2026/2676), the university has confirmed that such candidates won’t be locked out of UPTAC 2026 – but they’ll need to clear a few conditions first.
Who does this apply to?
Candidates applying for B.Tech or B.Pharma Lateral Entry through UPTAC 2026, whose diploma final year result is still awaited, can now take part in the main counselling rounds – Round 1 through Round 4.
The conditions, explained
AKTU isn’t waiving eligibility requirements – it’s offering an alternate path through them:
- If you’ve appeared for CUET UG, your CUET UG marks or rank can be used to take part in counselling.
- Your diploma record up to the 5th semester needs to be fully cleared – no exceptions.
- No backlog anywhere between the 1st and 5th semester is allowed. Even one pending subject rules a candidate out.
What to keep ready
Come registration or institute reporting, candidates will need mark sheets for every semester from the 1st to the 5th on hand. This isn’t optional paperwork – it’s the university’s way of verifying the conditions above before confirming a seat.
The catch if you don’t qualify
Here’s the part candidates should pay close attention to: if you show up for physical reporting and don’t actually meet the eligibility bar, your admission gets cancelled automatically. And the seat confirmation fee already paid – Rs 20,000 or Rs 12,000, depending on the course – won’t come back. There’s no refund clause built into this notice.
Where to track further updates
AKTU has pointed candidates to the official UPTAC website for the detailed counselling schedule and any further changes.
