The Plaksha University has launched the Binny Bansal Institute for Inventing the Future (IIF) in India with a funding of Rs 70 crore from Binny Bansal, the creator of Flipkart and xto10x. The institute will develop solutions to global challenges using AI, blockchain and robotics.
The IIF Institute will advance Plaksha’s goal by using AI technology to tackle challenges in healthcare, agriculture, energy, and environmental sustainability. It will transform academic discoveries into scalable, real-world solutions to address both local and global issues.
IIF will prioritise industries such as healthcare, agriculture, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. It will translate research findings into practical solutions, foster AI talent in India and encourage collaboration between universities and businesses to bring innovative ideas to market.
IIF partners with the University of California to facilitate collaborative research, student-teacher exchanges, and mutually beneficial learning opportunities.
Binny Bansal emphasised the university’s commitment to using technology to improve lives. Prof. Shankar Shastri, Plaksha’s founding chancellor and UC Berkeley professor, called IIF a major step towards making India a global leader in deep tech innovation.
Backed by top business and tech leaders from around the world, Plaksha University aims to transform technology education and research in India through hands-on learning, interdisciplinary studies and innovation.
