The NEET UG 2025 results have been officially announced, and the medical admission process across India is set to start soon. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for MBBS and BDS courses under the All India Quota. In a major update for Bihar, two new government medical colleges are expected to open in Saran and Samastipur this year. This will increase the number of MBBS seats in the state, offering more opportunities for medical aspirants.
Candidates who have qualified will need to participate in the counselling process to secure seats in MBBS, BDS, and other medical programs.
Types of NEET UG Counselling
Medical admissions through NEET UG are conducted under two main quotas:
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ): The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages counselling for AIQ seats available in government medical and dental colleges across India.
- 85% State Quota: Each state conducts its own counselling for the remaining seats. In Bihar, this process will be handled by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB). Registrations for Bihar’s counselling are expected to start soon.
Major Update for Bihar Aspirants
Two new government medical colleges are expected to be established in Saran and Samastipur this year. With their addition, Bihar’s total MBBS seat count may rise from 2,995 to around 3,200, offering more local opportunities for students to pursue medical education.
