New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is expected to announce the revised schedule for the NEET PG 2025 exam soon on its official websites nbe.edu.in and natboard.edu.in.
The postgraduate medical entrance exam, originally scheduled for June 15, was postponed following a Supreme Court directive that mandated the exam be conducted in a single shift. This ruling came in response to concerns over fairness in conducting high-stakes exams across multiple shifts.
Supreme Court: “Two Shifts Are Arbitrary and Unfair”
The Supreme Court of India strongly objected to NEET PG being held in two shifts, calling the practice “arbitrary” and “unfair.” The Court emphasised that normalisation methods used to equalize scores across different shifts do not ensure absolute fairness a critical issue for a competitive exam that determines admission into postgraduate medical courses nationwide.
To uphold transparency and uniformity, the apex court has directed that NEET PG 2025 be held in a single session, offering equal conditions for all aspirants.
NBEMS Undergoes Logistical Overhaul
In response to the Court’s directive, NBEMS now faces the massive challenge of restructuring the exam logistics. Conducting NEET PG in a single shift will require the addition of nearly 900 new test centres across India.
This expansion also calls for increased security measures, including the use of signal jammers and enhanced surveillance systems, to ensure the integrity of the examination.
Due to the scale of this operational transformation, NBEMS postponed the exam indefinitely, stating that additional time is required to implement these measures effectively.
Revised Exam Schedule Coming Soon
While the exact date for the rescheduled NEET PG 2025 exam has not yet been announced, NBEMS has assured that a revised timetable will be released shortly. This will include:
- New exam date
- City intimation slips
- Admit card release details
The city slips, initially set to be released on June 2, have also been delayed.
