New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will start the registration for NEET PG 2025 soon. Based on last year’s trends, the NEET PG information brochure and application form will be released on the official website, natboard.edu.in, within a week.
Admission Process for AIQ, State Quota & Private Colleges
- The NEET PG 2025 exam is conducted to fill 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in all states and Union Territories of India.
- The exam will also be used for state quota seats.
- Private medical colleges across India and Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions will offer admission based on NEET PG rank.
- Admissions will be conducted through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling.
NEET PG 2025 will also be used for admission to Post-MBBS DNB courses, Direct 6-year DNB courses, and Post-MBBS NBEMS Diploma courses.
NEET PG 2025 Shift Timings
The NBEMS announced the NEET PG 2025 exam date on March 17. The exam will take place on June 15 in two shifts, instead of the usual single shift. NBEMS made this change last year to solve logistical issues and reduce the number of exam centers from 1,200 to 500.
Shift | Timing | Note |
Morning Shift | 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM | Conducted as part of a multiple shift pattern |
Evening Shift | 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM | NBEMS will use AIIMS-style normalization to ensure fairness in scoring |
Many candidates did not welcome this decision of NBEMS. Along with changing the exam pattern, NBEMS also clearly stated that it will not release the answer key or question paper to the public.
Last month, Kerala MP Kodikunnil Suresh had raised the NEET PG issue in the Lok Sabha and urged the government to protect the exam from malpractices and system failures. He said errors in the merit list and normalisation process had led to long court cases and delayed admissions.
Aspirants Seek NEET PG 2025 Two Shift Pattern Reversed
However, many NEET PG aspirants are hopeful that the authorities will do away with the two-shift pattern of the exam for 2025.
“Last year, NBE and NMC said they implemented two shifts because they did not have enough time for centre allocation and security deployment,” said Dr Dhruv Chauhan, national spokesperson of the Indian Medical Association JDN.
He further added, “There is no such problem this time, but they are still conducting NEET PG in two shifts – even though they were aware of the problems related to normalisation and calculation of marks.”
Dr Chauhan also hinted on X that the second shift was tougher last year, and this affected students’ confidence and marks compared to students in the first shift. He warned that the same could happen this year as well.
Another X user posted the number of questions asked in every subject last year and said, “They can’t even keep the same question number in every shift. That’s what they call normalisation.”
There is no official information about the number of questions in NEET PG, as NBEMS does not make such information available to the public.
