Why This Deadline Matters

During Round 3 processing, verifying officers can raise a query if there is any discrepancy in a candidate’s uploaded documents or withdrawal request. Such queries must be answered online within the given window. If a query remains unresolved, a withdrawal request will not go through and the candidate will remain allotted to the seat. The same rule applies to general Round 3 queries linked to seat acceptance and document verification.

Round 3 Timeline So Far

JoSAA 2026 Round 3 results were declared on July 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST- the third of five counselling rounds for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The reporting window for fee payment and document upload closed on July 8, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST, after which candidates were given today as the final day to resolve any pending queries.

Candidates who initiated withdrawal between Tuesday, July 7 (from 10:00 AM) and Wednesday, July 8 (until 5:00 PM), and have since received a query on their request, must respond today for the withdrawal to be finalised.

What Comes Next

Round 4 of JoSAA 2026 counselling begins on July 10, 2026, followed by Round 5 – the final round for IIT and IISc seats – on July 16, 2026. Any query left unresolved today could leave a candidate’s withdrawal or seat status unsettled, affecting their participation in the rounds ahead.
