ROORKEE, UTTARAKHAND: IIT Roorkee and Niigata University, Japan, have launched a Double Ph.D. Program to strengthen academic collaboration between India and Japan. Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Matsuo Masayuki, Dean of Niigata University’s Graduate School of Science and Technology, signed an MoU to formalize the partnership, marking a significant step in international research cooperation.
The partnership between IIT Roorkee and Niigata University began with a visit from Prof. Tatsuo Ushiki, President of Niigata University, to IIT Roorkee, where both institutions discussed strengthening academic ties. Later, an IIT Roorkee delegation, including Director Prof. K.K. Pant and other senior faculty, visited Niigata University to explore deeper collaboration and finalize the Double Ph.D. Program.
Prof. K.K. Pant emphasized that this initiative will enhance students’ research capabilities and strengthen academic ties, while Prof. Matsuo Masayuki expressed excitement about nurturing researchers and addressing global challenges through joint efforts
