Fee Payment Is Non-Negotiable for Continuing in Counselling
The university has made it explicit that paying the Part Academic Fee is mandatory to remain eligible for subsequent rounds of online counselling. Candidates who fail to pay within the deadline will lose their claim to the allotted seat and will be dropped from all further rounds including the Spot Round even if they wish to continue later.
Document verification will only be carried out for candidates who have both been allotted a seat and paid the part fee.
How the Document Verification Process Works
Once a candidate pays the fee, the university’s General Procedure kicks in:
- Seat allotment is based on self-declared data Category/Sub-Category, Region, and qualifying exam marks which is then verified online against uploaded documents.
- If discrepancies are found, queries will be raised directly in the candidate’s login. Candidates are responsible for checking their portal regularly, as no separate intimation will be sent.
- Candidates must respond to queries within the stipulated time. If the uploaded documents are found satisfactory, the candidate becomes eligible for the next round (provided they’ve chosen Float).
- Additional queries may follow if discrepancies persist, and candidates must keep resolving them until cleared.
- Failure to respond in time leads to cancellation of the allotted seat. The candidate may still be considered for subsequent rounds, but only as per the Category/Sub-Category/Region decided by the university based on its own verification not the candidate’s original claim.
- If a candidate later submits correct documents before the next round, the benefit of their original claimed category and region can be restored.
The same verification procedure will apply to newly registered or allotted candidates in each subsequent round. Document eligibility will also be checked a second time by the allotted college or institute at the time of physical reporting and false or fake documents at that stage will result in immediate cancellation of the seat.
Understanding Freeze vs Float
Candidates satisfied with their Round 1 seat and not seeking an upgrade should select Freeze. Those who want a chance at a better seat in Round 2 should select Float their current seat stays reserved in case they don’t get a higher preference.
A few conditions apply here:
- If a candidate does not submit their willingness at all, the system will automatically default to Float.
- Candidates who get upgraded to a new seat in Round 2 must accept it they lose all claim to their Round 1 seat.
- Once willingness is submitted, no request for change will be entertained by the university, so candidates are advised to choose carefully.
Withdrawal and Refund Rules
Candidates who have paid the academic fee can withdraw their admission through the online withdrawal option in their account, up to 16.07.2026, 11:59 PM. A few important conditions govern refunds:
- Refunds will be credited to the bank account details submitted at the time of registration no request for changing bank details will be entertained later.
- No refund request will be considered after the stipulated deadline, and no such request will be accepted via post, email, or fax.
- Seats vacated by candidates who withdraw, freeze without paying, or fail eligibility criteria will be released for allotment in subsequent rounds.
What Candidates Should Do Right Now

- If allotted a seat, pay the Rs 96,000 Part Academic Fee immediately via Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card don’t wait for the deadline.

Key Takeaway
With fee payment and willingness submission both due by July 14, and document-related actions extending to July 16, GGSIPU has left very little room for delay. Candidates are strongly advised to act immediately after checking their result rather than waiting until the final hours, given the university’s own warning that deadline extensions may not be possible.
