JoSAA Round 3 Result 2026 Out: Seat Allotment Released

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) declared the Round 3 seat allotment result today, Monday, 6 July 2026, at 5:00 PM, for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes for the 2026-27 academic session. Candidates can now log in to the official portal to check their allotment status.

    Don't Miss Entrance Updates 2026

This is the third of five counselling rounds this year. Round 3 typically brings a wave of new seat movement at NITs and IIITs, as candidates who were allotted IIT seats confirm them and vacate their lower-preference NIT and IIIT choices.

    What Happens Immediately After Allotment

Checking the result is only the first step. Every candidate allotted a seat in this round must complete online reporting, which involves:

    • Paying the seat acceptance fee
    • Uploading the required documents
    • Choosing between Freeze, Float, or Slide
    • Responding to any verification query raised by the reporting officer, if applicable

Skipping any of these steps within the deadline can result in the seat being cancelled, with no option for reinstatement.

The query-response deadline (9 July) is separate from and later than the fee/document deadline (8 July), based on JoSAA’s published round-wise schedule.

    Seat Acceptance Fee Details

    CateogryFee amount
    General / OBC-NCL / EWS₹30,000
    SC / ST / PwD₹15,000

Candidates who already paid this fee in an earlier round do not need to pay again unless specifically prompted by the portal.

Freeze, Float, or Slide: What to Choose

    • Freeze locks the current seat permanently and removes the candidate from further rounds suitable only if the allotted seat is the genuine first choice.
    • Float keeps the candidate eligible for upgrades across any institute or branch in Rounds 4 and 5, at no extra cost or risk.
    • Slide keeps the candidate eligible only for a better branch within the same allotted institute.

Candidates who are unsure are generally advised to choose Float, since it carries no downside if no upgrade comes through, the current seat stays intact.

    If No Seat Was Allotted

Candidates who did not receive a seat in Round 3 are automatically carried forward into Round 4 and Round 5. No re-registration or additional action is needed to remain in the process.

    Key Takeaways

    • Round 3 result is out; check status on josaa.nic.in.
    • Fee payment, document upload, and willingness selection close by 8 July, 5:00 PM.
    • Any verification query must be answered separately by 9 July, 5:00 PM.
    • Missing either deadline leads to permanent cancellation of the allotted seat.
    • Two more rounds remain, so candidates without a seat still have further chances.
