The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has released the counselling schedule for 2026. The CSAB special rounds, conducted to fill vacant seats left over after JoSAA NIT+ counselling, will open for registration on July 28, 2026. Candidates can register at the official website csab.nic.in.
What is CSAB Counselling?
CSAB conducts special counselling rounds for admission to NITs, IIITs and other government-funded technical institutes (GFTIs) based on JEE Main 2026 scores. It takes place after JoSAA counselling concludes, to fill any seats that remain vacant following the main allocation process. There are three types of CSAB counselling: Special Round, NEUT Round (for North-Eastern states and Union Territory candidates) and Supernumerary Round.

Who Can Apply for CSAB 2026?
The following candidates are eligible to register for CSAB special rounds:
- Candidates who did not register for JoSAA 2026 but meet the eligibility criteria
- Candidates who participated in JoSAA 2026 but were not allotted any seat
- Candidates whose JoSAA seat was cancelled due to non-payment of Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)
- Candidates who used the EXIT option during JoSAA 2026
Counselling Fee
- General / OBC / EWS candidates: ₹40,000
- SC / ST / PwD candidates: ₹19,000
Documents Required
- Class 10 and Class 12 certificates
- JEE Main 2026 scorecard and admit card
- Category certificate (OBC-NCL/EWS certificate must be issued after April 1, 2026)
- State eligibility proof (if applicable)
How to Register
Candidates must visit csab.nic.in and log in using their JEE Main 2026 application number and password. They are advised to keep all scanned documents ready before the registration window opens on July 28, as the process moves quickly and missing any step can result in cancellation of the allotted seat.
