The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027, has activated the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal, allowing candidates to register and submit their applications today at the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Registration Window
Candidates can apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 through the regular registration window, which closes on September 27, 2026, without a late fee. Applications can still be submitted after this date, with a late fee, up to October 5, 2026.
DigiLocker Mandatory for Indian Nationals
Registration through a verified DigiLocker account is mandatory for all Indian nationals applying for GATE 2027. Candidates are advised to create or update their DigiLocker account before starting the registration process on GOAPS.

Candidates applying for two test papers must pay the applicable fee separately for each paper. The application fee is non-refundable once paid.
GATE 2027 Exam Dates
GATE 2027 will be conducted across six days – February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.
Documents Required
Candidates should keep the following ready before starting registration:
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG)
- Scanned signature (JPG/JPEG)
- Government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, PAN, etc.)
- Category certificate (SC/ST/PwD/EWS, if applicable)
- Qualifying degree certificate or provisional certificate
- Verified DigiLocker account details
How to Apply
- Visit the official website gate2027.iitm.ac.in and click on the GOAPS registration link.
- Complete new user registration with your name, mobile number, and a valid email ID.
- Log in using the generated Enrollment ID and password.
- Fill in personal, academic, and paper-selection details.
- Upload the required documents as per specifications.
- Pay the applicable application fee online.
- Preview, submit, and download the application form for future reference.
A valid GATE score is used for admission to postgraduate programmes (M.Tech, M.E., Ph.D.) at IITs, NITs, and IIITs, as well as for recruitment in several Public Sector Undertakings, and remains valid for three years from the date of result declaration.
