Punjab Speaker Flags Errors in NCERT’s Punjabi Textbook

Punjab Assembly Speaker urged the Union Minister to correct errors in NCERT's Punjabi textbook, and stressed on accuracy in basic education.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has requested Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan correct several mistakes made in a Punjabi textbook by NCERT. He, in his letter, pointed out serious spelling errors and factual inaccuracies in Punjabi Primer, meant for Balvatika/Anganwadi kids and adult literacy courses.

    He stressed that these errors mislead young learners and hinder adult literacy programmes. He called for immediate correction by expert Punjabi linguists.

    Further, he emphasised applying rigorous editorial and quality-checking processes on all upcoming publications of NCERT. He said that keeping the teaching material accurate is essential for the success of basic education and literacy programmes and rigorous content validation is required to prevent such mistakes from recurring.
