What Round 5 Means for IIT/IISc Candidates

Round 5 is the final and conclusive round for IIT and IISc seat allocation. The withdrawal window for IIT/IISc candidates closed during Round 4 itself (11–14 July, 5:00 PM), so once Round 5 allotment is out, no withdrawal is possible for these seats under any circumstance – the allotment is treated as final regardless of the option a candidate chooses.

Candidates allotted a seat in Round 5 must complete online reporting – which includes fee payment, document upload, and response to any query raised by the institute – by 17:00 on 20 July 2026. Missing this deadline will result in automatic cancellation of the allotted seat.

What About NIT, IIIT and GFTI Candidates?

Unlike IIT/IISc candidates, those allotted seats under the NIT+ system (NITs, IIITs and GFTIs) can still withdraw during the Round 5 window itself, from 16 to 20 July 2026, before the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) payment stage, which runs from 22 to 24 July 2026. Any seats that remain vacant after Round 5 in the NIT+ system will be taken up by CSAB 2026 Special Rounds; IITs do not participate in CSAB rounds.

    Fee and Reporting

The seat acceptance fee for JoSAA 2026 is ₹35,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, adjustable against the institute’s admission fee. Physical reporting schedules for individual IITs and IISc will be published separately on each institute’s profile page on the JoSAA portal.

Where to Check and Get Help

Candidates can log in at josaa.nic.in to check their Round 5 allotment status, opening/closing ranks, and complete online reporting. For queries related to IIT/IISc admission, candidates can contact the JoSAA IIT Roorkee team at josaa@iitr.ac.in; for NIT+ system queries, the CSAB team can be reached at info.csab2026@iiests.ac.in. Responses to queries must be submitted only through the JoSAA portal and not by email.

Stay tuned for further updates on JoSAA 2026 final reporting and the upcoming CSAB Special Rounds for NIT+ system candidates.
