Maharashtra CAP 2026: CET Cell has extended registration window

The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra, has issued an official public notice addressing a technical glitch that was preventing several candidates from fetching their JEE Main percentile scores during the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for engineering degree admissions.

    Don't Miss Entrance Updates 2026

    What the Notice Says

As per the circular dated July 10, 2026, online registration for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) covering engineering degree courses for the academic year 2026-27 has been underway since July 2, 2026. The CET Cell has now extended this registration window until July 16, 2026, giving candidates additional time to complete their applications.

For this admission cycle, scores from both the MHT-CET and JEE Main examinations are being accepted as valid entrance criteria.

The Technical Issue Behind the Delay

Following directions from the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi, JEE Main percentile scores of candidates are being fetched directly into the CAP online application through DigiLocker integration.

However, the CET Cell noted that a number of candidates faced difficulty during this fetching process. The root cause was identified as a mismatch between the candidate’s name on their JEE Main scorecard and the name recorded in their DigiLocker account, which was creating technical obstacles in retrieving percentile data automatically.

The notice confirms that the CET Cell coordinated with the NTA to resolve this technical snag, and the issue has now been fixed.

What Affected Candidates Need to Do

Candidates who previously faced problems fetching their JEE Main scores have been advised to log back into their CAP Portal account and complete the score-fetching process to finalise their application.

The Board has also addressed cases where candidates had already confirmed their application without including JEE Main scores. Such candidates now have a path to correct this:

    • Candidates who confirmed via E-Scrutiny: Need to raise a grievance on the portal to unlock their application and fetch their JEE Main percentile.
    • Candidates who confirmed via Physical Scrutiny: Must visit their respective Scrutiny Centre (Facilitation Centre/Scrutiny Centre) in person to get their application unlocked.

E-ScrutinyRegister a grievance on the CAP Portal
Physical ScrutinyVisit the concerned Scrutiny Centre (FC/SC) in person

    Why This Matters for Candidates

The CET Cell has clearly stated that candidates who fail to complete the application or correction process within the stipulated deadline will not be included in the merit list. This makes it critical for JEE Main-eligible candidates, especially those who noticed a name mismatch or missing percentile data, to act before the window closes.

Since the merit list for engineering admissions is directly tied to accurately captured entrance exam scores, any unresolved discrepancy at this stage could affect a candidate’s eligibility and ranking in the CAP process.

    What Candidates Should Do Now

    • Log in to the CAP Portal and check whether your JEE Main percentile has been successfully fetched.
    • If a name mismatch exists between your JEE Main scorecard and DigiLocker, attempt fetching again as the technical issue has now been resolved.
    • If your application was confirmed without JEE Main scores via E-Scrutiny, file a grievance immediately to unlock and correct it.
    • If confirmed via Physical Scrutiny, visit your allotted Facilitation Centre/Scrutiny Centre in person before the deadline.
    • Complete all corrections and confirmations before July 16, 2026, to avoid exclusion from the merit list.

    Key Takeaway

With the registration deadline extended to July 16, 2026, the CET Cell has given candidates a limited but important window to resolve JEE Main score-fetching errors. Students and parents are advised not to delay, as failure to fix the discrepancy in time will result in exclusion from Maharashtra’s engineering admission merit list for 2026-27.
