The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has opened registration for the decentralised e-counselling round of WBJEE 2026. The registration link went live at 10:00 AM today on the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in, and the window closes at 11:59 PM on September 8, 2026.
The round is the vacant-seat or spot phase of admissions to undergraduate engineering, technology and pharmacy courses across participating institutes in the state. According to the seat matrix published by the board on September 6, a total of 33,857 seats are available. The entire process is online, and no offline applications will be entertained.
Candidates get barely 36 hours to finish registration, fee payment, profile creation and choice selection, all of which must be completed within the same window.
How to register for WBJEE 2026 decentralised counselling
- Visit the official website, wbjeeb.nic.in and open the WBJEE Decentralised Counselling registration link.
- Click on “New Registration” and enter the required details to generate login credentials.
- Log in and fill in the application form with personal, academic and rank details – WBJEE rank, JEE Main rank or Class 12 marks, as applicable.
- Upload all necessary documents in the prescribed format.
- Pay the one-time registration fee of ₹250 online. The fee is non-refundable.
- Complete “Profile Creation” and move to the choice-filling stage.
- Fill in choices as per the published seat matrix. The choice set is unordered, so preferences cannot be arranged in serial order.
- Save the form and click submit, then keep a printout or screenshot of the confirmation for records.
- Finish the entire process by 11:59 PM on September 8, 2026.
Choices can be added, withdrawn or modified only during the active window of the relevant phase. Candidates who registered in an earlier phase do not need to register afresh.

Who is eligible
Candidates allotted a seat through centralised WBJEE counselling 2026 and who have confirmed their admission can still take part. If they are allotted a new seat in this round, the earlier seat stands cancelled. The board has, however, barred candidates from using decentralised counselling to shift into the same stream or academic combination in which they are already admitted.
WBJEE rank holders domiciled in West Bengal are eligible for reserved-category seats in government and private colleges, while rank holders from outside the state can apply to state and private institutions. JEE Main 2026 rank holders qualify for institutions offering JEE Main seats, and Class 12 qualifying marks are considered for applicable courses under AICTE norms, largely at private and self-financing institutes. The portal sorts applicants automatically into five categories on this basis.
What candidates should watch out for
Round 2 of the process runs on the same frozen set of choices, and fresh choices cannot be added at that stage. The board has also warned that anyone who pays the Seat Acceptance Fee and then fails to report will be debarred from the rest of the process and the counselling system, although any admission already validly secured remains protected.
With the window this short, candidates are advised to keep scanned documents ready and complete the payment well ahead of the September 8 deadline rather than risk last-hour server load.
